YSF: Finding success in the ASMR community through Fourthwall Memberships

YSF is a well-known audio creator that uses YouTube and Fourthwall Memberships to post his content. He’s seen an astounding amount of success since he began posting in 2021, with over 110M views and 355K subscribers on YouTube. We’re excited to share some details and top tips from our exclusive chat with him about monetizing content and building your channel as a creator.  

When did you decide to put content behind a paywall?

I decided to dedicate myself fully to my content a little less than 2 years ago. I needed a way where I could have the funds to hire necessary staff and free myself up to consistently create high-quality content without worrying about also balancing a job. With the support I receive on Fourthwall, I can fully concentrate on the content that I and my community want to see and hear. 

Any advice that you'd give for a creator that's building an ASMR channel today?

I got a piece of advice a year ago from one of the largest ASMR creators, something that resonated with me, and like all great advice it is simple on its face: "Don't copy ANYONE. Why would people watch a copy cat when they can watch the real thing?" Understanding what that actually entails is a game changer. I'm not saying don't take inspiration from anyone, but my advice would be to figure out your passion and find a way to express that through your content, to make it your own.

What's your favorite part of working with such a large community?

First of all I am extremely grateful to have such a large community backing me and supporting my work. I am truly thankful for each view, listen, and person behind the screen that chooses to watch my content. At the end of the day, I always wanted to create something that people truly value and cherish, something that people cared about. I pride myself in creating a safe area, where people from all walks of life can indulge in their desires without feeling any sort of guilt or shame. My true favorite part of having a community of this scale is the wide variety of people that find their way to my channel, the little comments of someone saying it made their day, thanking me for helping them relax, or that they couldn't stop smiling. Comments saying how much they look forward to my work, how much it helps, or how much joy it brings them. That's my favorite part.

How have you thought about subscriber growth? Are there any strategies that you prefer to grow your channel?

Growth follows quality, and for me quality comes when I put myself into my work. As for strategy, that's different per person per channel per idea, but at the core that comes from listening to what your audience wants. It seems simple but most aspiring creators miss this.

What made you decide to use Fourthwall?

I was looking for a platform that offered excellent creator support. I've had difficulty on other platforms when I needed help, I felt like I was being left out to dry more often than not. Just from my first meeting with them I could tell Fourthwall is completely responsive to any concerns and actually cared about what I had to say. Not only that, they were extremely supportive and did everything to make the transition as easy as possible. Fourthwall made it easy for me to transfer hundreds of hours of content over to my new site and the response from my community has been OVERWHELMINGLY positive on all fronts. 

Fourthwall truly has outdone every other community-backed subscription platform in every way. The fees are fair, the support is excellent, the features are incredible, and being able to integrate my shop and membership platform together is a complete slam dunk. I truly do not recommend things to other creators if I do not stand behind the service 100%, I can wholeheartedly say without hesitation that moving to Fourthwall has been one of the greatest choices in my career.

How would you compare your experience on Fourthwall vs previous platforms?

The creator interface on Fourthwall is incredibly simple, easy to use and understand, and offers a wide variety of choices no matter what product or service you're offering. On my end, it's easy to upload, create, and share new content with my members in the way I want. Fourthwall is EXTREMELY responsive and works hand in hand with you to make you feel like a VIP. I feel like I could fully rely on Fourthwall to provide support that I was not able to get from ANY other platform I've ever worked with. 

How did you decide on your tiers and pricing?

I thought about how much time and effort I want to put into each tier, and what value each tier would have to offer. My lowest price on Fourthwall ($6 per month) offers access to all of my full length content (300+ hours) but I wanted to have other options for people who wanted to get more involved. I started a community Discord which is available for higher tiers and will be integrating Fourthwall's membership and tier system to give my higher tiers access to merch earlier and with a substantial discount.
