March Patch Notes

This month we launched a new system that improves print quality, locked messages for DMs, 7 new products into our catalog, and tons of fixes and improvements.

Higher-quality prints with our new Recommended Print Technique system

Choosing the best print technique for your art can be trickier than it seems. Different techniques are better for different designs, depending on the size, colors, and complexity of the art itself. To make it easier to pick the best print technique for your art, we’ve launched a new system that analyzes your artwork and chooses the best print technique for your product.

Our print experts have been testing the system for the last few weeks and we’re excited to say it’s making the same print technique choices they would. The system is now live for all products that support more than one print technique, and you can tell if it’s active if the manufacturing technique on a product says “Printed”.

If you do have a specific technique you prefer, you can switch to the method of your choice by clicking the “Change” link in the top right of the “Printed” manufacturing technique.

Locked messages for Memberships

You can now send locked messages that require a fee to unlock! You can send text, photos, or video and set whatever unlock price makes sense for what you’re sending. As with all memberships, the only fee for this is our standard 5%.

We’ve already seen some of our podcast memberships use this to send out comedy specials to their members, and ASMR channels use it for sending out bonus offerings, but we can’t wait to see how you all use this new tool.

Membership DMs are now available on our mobile app

You can now read and reply to messages on our mobile app! This was a top request after last month’s release of the new DM system for membership and we’re excited that we were able to launch it so quickly.

7 new products in the product catalog + more sleeve print support for DTFx printing

We continued expanding our product catalog in February, with 12 new products as well as adding sleeve print support for the DTFx print technique on some of our most popular t-shirts. Here’s the full list of updates to our product catalog for the month:

Making it easy to create new sites 

Many of you have been telling us you want to manage multiple shops and sites from a single account, so we built a new flow that makes it easy to create another site right from your existing Fourthwall account. This option isn’t enabled for everyone yet, but if you do want it turned on for your account you can reach out to our support team for access!

We now support Japanese Yen

We have a few creators with big audiences in Japan, which we love and want to support – so we added Japanese Yen as a supported currency! To enable Japanese Yen, go to Settings -> Checkout and mark the checkbox next to JPY.  頑 張 って!

Once enabled, supporters visiting from Japan will automatically see JPY on the product pages and in checkout

Better control of abandoned cart emails

Emailing your customers a friendly reminder about items they left in their shopping cart can drive big sales increases – about 10% of people who receive email reminders end up placing an order. By default, we send two email reminders to your customers who leave items in their cart. One after 24 hours, and a final reminder after 48 hours.

To give you more control of these emails, we’ve added new controls in your Settings -> Checkout tab that lets you choose between our recommended system of two emails, a lighter system that sends a single reminder, and sending no emails at all.

… and 100+ bug fixes and improvements

These blog posts are always focused on our big launches, but what I’m most proud of is how hard the team works each month on fixing bugs and making small improvements to the platform. This month we shipped over 100 small fixes, from improving conversion rates in checkout via faster loading to solving strange designer bugs with certain models of Intel CPUs. We know we’re still far from perfect, but we’re completely committed to building a platform that’s worthy of you and your community's trust.
