TL;DR

MeganPlays (Megan Letter) is an American Roblox YouTuber whose flagship channel has grown to roughly 3.65 million subscribers and nearly 956 million views. Beyond gaming content across a multi-channel network (Honey The Unicorn, Perry The Panda, MEGAN, BFF SQUAD), she co-founded Wonder Works Studio, built hit games like Overlook Bay and Traitor, and expanded into merch (Stay Peachy) and retail licensing deals like her 2022 Claire's collection.

Most gaming Creators spend years uploading gameplay before they find an audience they can build off of.

There’s more to it than just having a great personality and a dope setup. If you really want to thrive as a gaming Creator, you need to have a strong grasp of what’s popular and build a niche around that.

Enter MeganPlays.

For nearly a decade, the popular YouTuber has built a successful career by creating original content around Roblox, a global gaming platform that lets users create, play, and share their own interactive experiences.

Her bubbly, high-energy on-screen presence mirrors the colorful, imaginative world of Roblox itself, making her content feel like a natural extension of the platform her young audience already loves.

Though she did have to go through a lot of trial and error before finding your footing, Megan quickly rose to the top, becoming one of the platform’s biggest Creators with a dedicated fanbase that allowed her to take her brand to new heights.

In this Creator spotlight, we’ll explore MeganPlay’s career, her rise on Roblox, and how she was able to create a multi-million dollar brand off a children’s video game.

Megan’s Early Days: From The Sims to Roblox

Before she became the hit Roblox streamer, Megan Letter spent her early years experimenting on YouTube, playing different games and seeing which ones resonated with her audience.

From 2014-2018, her channel featured content from games like Diablo, GTA, The Sims, and Minecraft, with a few gaming hauls and vlogs sprinkled in between.

Although she was able to attract a sizable audience, she still wasn’t making enough to justify going full-time as a Creator.

By late 2018, Megan made the smart move to switch gears by betting on a rising platform most adult Creators were ignoring at the time—Roblox.

In an industry that, at the time, typically found it harder for female gamers to thrive, Megan found that Robloxs dev and gaming community had just as big a female audience as it did male, allowing her to be discovered a lot more quickly.

Her instincts landed her gold.

In less than a year, she saw her subscriber count go from 240,000 to 1 million. Not only did this growth reassure her in her decision to move onto the platform, but by 2019, Megan’s popularity on Roblox allowed her to expand her content in ways she hadn’t dreamed of.

No longer was she just streaming her games; she was now creating them.

Diversifying a Brand: How Roblox Allowed Megan to Expand into Other Channels

What makes Roblox stand out from most build-your-own-world games is the ability to partake in experiences created by other players.

Anyone can use Roblox's simple creation tools to build and publish their own games, even kids with little or no coding experience.

That endless variety means there's always something new to play, which keeps players coming back and gives Creators like MeganPlays a steady stream of content ideas.

In 2019, Megan was becoming so popular that she started to diversify her brand by starting several new YouTube channels. It was a move that allowed her to branch off from simple gameplay content to personal vlogs and character-driven spinoffs, turning a single channel into an entire content network.

Here are the channels she's known for today:

MeganPlays

The flagship channel now sits at roughly 3.65 million subscribers with nearly 956 million total video views, anchored by Roblox content aimed at kids and preteens. It remains the hub that funnels attention to everything else in the network.

Honey The Unicorn

This channel, built around a unicorn character in Megan's universe, has grown to over 558,000 subscribers and consists primarily of Adopt Me! roleplay and Roblox content aimed at Megan’s young audience.

What's notable is that Honey wasn't just a spinoff for its own sake. The character was used to test-drive Overlook Bay content ahead of Wonder Works Studio's full push, essentially functioning as a second acquisition channel for the game.

Perry The Panda

A sister channel to Honey The Unicorn, Perry The Panda incorporates the same Adopt Me! and Roblox content that made Honey so popular.

It reinforces the same friend-group universe that Megan's core audience already knew from her main channel, achieving a dedicated fanbase of 126,000 subscribers.

MEGAN

Launched to give Megan a home for her personal, vlog-style content, this channel has grown to 583,000 subscribers with over 52 million total views.

Here, Megan steps outside her Roblox persona to post lifestyle content that tackles topics like marriage and parenthood, along with personal vlogs and challenges for entertainment.

BFF SQUAD

The BFF SQUAD is a group of best friends that have formed a squad to make funny moment videos on Roblox. The channel consists of story games, escape games, and Adopt Me! content for its 362,000 subscribers.

Taken together, Megan has said the monetization from these additional channels alone brought her business to a seven-figure salary through general CPM revenue.

The lesson for other Creators here is straightforward: growth doesn't have to mean putting more pressure on one channel.

Capitalizing on a Niche: How Megan Co-Founded a Gaming Studio

When Megan’s Roblox channel began to take off in 2018, her then-husband, Zach, noticed the extent of her popularity and came up with a proposal that would change both their careers.

In 2019, the two founded Wonder Works Studio, a game development company specializing in Roblox-specific games.

The studio's first release, Overlook Bay, is the clearest proof of concept. It launched in beta on July 27, 2020, followed by its official free-to-play release on September 25, and grossed over $1.5 million in its first four months alone. A success that let the studio hire eight full-time employees and start work on a second title.

Rather than paying for user acquisition, the team built a virtual character, Honey the Unicorn, specifically to test and promote the game organically; within a couple of months, Honey had gained nearly three-quarters of a million subscribers and helped generate over a million favorites on Overlook Bay before it even released.

When the game launched in paid access, it sold 1.2 million copies in two weeks, and within a month of going free-to-play, it had over 90,000 concurrent users and 26 million unique players.

The studio's second title, Traitor, showed the same organic playbook could be repeated.

The game was built in just three weeks as a test to see how quickly they could move into a new genre, leaning on Megan's influencer audience to drive growth.

It was a successful strategy that generated more than 4 million YouTube views and over 18 million visits to the game through Creator tournaments alone.

Wonder Works has kept expanding since, with a current slate that includes titles like Overlook 2, Puma and the Land of Games, and Timmeh, alongside licensed live-event tie-ins such as an EDC Insomniac World Party and a David Guetta DJ Party experience.

And even though Megan and Zach divorced in 2025, that hasn't stopped them from continuing to grow Wonder Works Studio into one of Roblox's leading game development companies, proving that a strong business can outlast personal circumstances.

MeganPlays' Merchandise Line and Brand Partnerships

Content and games are only part of Megan’s empire. She was also able to carve out additional revenue streams through merchandising and striking licensing deals that extend her presence into brick-and-mortar retail.

Her merch line, Stay Peachy, is named after her own signature sign-off, which keeps the branding tied directly to her personality rather than functioning as a generic storefront.

The shop offers plushies, apparel, and accessories tied to Megan's brand and to Wonder Works' game universe, giving fans a physical way to buy into a world they already watch and play in every day.

The biggest sign that Megan's IP had crossed over into the traditional licensing world came in December 2022, when she partnered with Claire's.

The retailer launched a 23-piece collection of toys, tech accessories, and style products tied to Shimmerville, the virtual world Megan built inside Roblox—with six of those pieces also releasing as user-generated content items across the platform.

Claire's framed the partnership around shared brand values with Megan's young, style-focused audience, while Megan described the collaboration as a full-circle moment, given how much she'd loved shopping at Claire's herself growing up.

The collection, including plush toys based on Shimmerville's pets, faux nails, and clip-in hair extensions inspired by Megan's ever-changing hairstyle, is a textbook example of how a "phygital" partnership works: products that exist in both the physical Claire's stores and inside the Roblox experience itself, letting fans outfit both their real selves and their avatars.

That willingness to license her brand out selectively, rather than slapping her name on anything, mirrors the same discipline she's shown with sponsorships more broadly.

She's been direct about only promoting things that genuinely fit her personality and interests, and about turning down deals, including a vape company that wanted her to advertise vaping to her young audience, that clashed with her brand's standards.

Between the game studio, the merch line, and licensed retail partnerships, Megan built revenue streams that don't depend on YouTube's ad algorithm at all.

That's the real takeaway for any Creator looking past their next upload. The goal isn't just making more content;  it's building assets, products, and partnerships that keep generating revenue whether or not a given video goes viral.

The MeganPlays Playbook: A Blueprint for Building a Gaming Career That Lasts

Megan's path from a struggling YouTuber to creating a multi-platform gaming empire wasn't luck; it followed a pattern that any Creator can learn from, even if their audience is a fraction of the size.

Below are a few key lessons from Megan’s career that every Creator should take into consideration when building their channel:

Find the niche before you find the audience

Megan didn't get bigger by working harder at the same content. She got bigger by recognizing that Roblox offered an underserved audience with room to grow.

Before investing years into a game or genre, it's worth asking whether the platform itself has momentum, and whether there's space for a new voice within it.

Treat your channel like a foundation, not the finished business

The moment Megan's main channel gained traction, she started building on top of it (i.e., new channels, new formats, new audiences) instead of just posting more of the same.

Ultimately, diversifying didn't dilute her brand—it opened up avenues, allowing for new audiences to find her.

Turn your audience into a distribution channel for something you own.

The biggest leap in Megan's career wasn't a bigger subscriber count; it was launching Wonder Works Studio and using her audience to fuel a product she actually owned.

Sponsorships and ad revenue are rented; a game, a merch line, or a product is owned outright, and it keeps generating income whether or not a video goes viral that week.

Be selective about what you attach your name to

From turning down brand deals that didn't fit her audience to building a merch line and retail partnership tied directly to her own persona, Megan's growth never came at the cost of trust.

For a Creator whose business depends on parents feeling safe letting their kids watch, that discipline is part of the product.

From Roblox Rookie to Gaming Mogul: The MeganPlays Legacy

In the end, Megan's journey as a Creator proves that virality isn't the only achievement gamers should be striving for.

If you really want to build a successful career as a gaming streamer, you need to think like a founder, not just a content Creator.

That means finding a niche with real room to grow, treating every new channel or format as a way to expand your brand rather than dilute it, and eventually turning your audience into the foundation for something you own outright.

MeganPlays didn't get to where she is by chasing every trend or playing it safe with sponsorships alone; she built an entire ecosystem around her name.

For any Creator willing to put in the same years of trial and error, that same blueprint is there for the taking.
